Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should
The other week, I turned down a job interview.
A bold move that certain family members and friends couldn’t understand — because let’s be real, the job market is an absolute sh*tshow right now, and you’re supposed to take what you can get, right?
After a few months of navigating the Wild West of job hunting — where ghost jobs roam free and every LinkedIn post about hiring unleashes a floodgate of applicants (literally in the hundreds) — I know my options are limited.
But this year, I’m trying something different: I’m listening to my heart and seeing where it takes me.
On paper, the role I applied to looked promising: fully remote, working with dream clients, and good pay.
Yet, I’ve realized that just because an opportunity looks “good on paper” doesn’t mean it’s the right one.
After filling out a detailed questionnaire about my writing process, I was asked to complete a take-home assignment for the role. Annoying, but expected (even though, you know, portfolios exist 🙄).
Then came the catch: it had to be done in 24 hours.
